Jasmine Mills
Hailing from Fredonia, NY, Jasmine has been in Los Angeles since May 2018. Knowing she wanted to pursue a career that included music, technology, and science, she enrolled in the Sound Recording Technology program in the Fredonia School of Music - a division of State University of New York in Fredonia. Jasmine earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Science in December 2018.
Prior to getting her high school diploma, Jasmine participated in violin playing in the school’s string orchestra, solo festivals, advanced music program recitals, private lessons, summer music camp at Chautuaqua Institution, and pit orchestra during the spring musicals. During her three years on the SUNY Fredonia campus, Jasmine participated as a member of the Tönmeisters Association, the student and faculty-run Sound Recording Technology organization. She was also a member of the student-run live sound organization, Fredonia Sound Services. Her projects ranged from recording a full band to analog tape to engineering live streams of Fredonia School of Music concerts and recitals.
Before the start of her senior year, Jasmine interned at 4th Street Recording, owned by long-time music industry veteran, Kathleen Wirt. Gaining valuable contacts and establishing networks, she decided to stay in Los Angeles, and finish her degree off-campus, rather than return to Fredonia for her senior year of college.
She works with Eva Reistad as a score mixing assistant for films, including Tello Films’ I Hate New Years (2020) (score by Jessica Rose Weiss), The Devil Conspiracy (2022) (score by Anne-Kathrin Dern), Netflix’s Afterlife of The Party (2021) (score by Jessica Rose Weiss), The Independent (2022) (score by Jessica Rose Weiss), BBC’s Planet Earth III (2023) (score by Sara Barone, Jacob Shea, and Hans Zimmer), and Amazon Prime’s Canary Black (2024) (score by Jessica Rose Weiss).
Another scoring engineer she has worked with is Forest Christenson. Her credits on projects with him include Last Suspect (2023), Futura (2023), Amazon Prime’s The Blue Angels (2024), Valiant Picture’s Chopin (2024), The Tattooist of Auschwitz (2024) (score by Hans Zimmer & Kara Talve), Ghosts of Ruin: The Animated Series (2024) (score by Hans Zimmer), and BBC & NBC’s The Americas (2025).
Her studio record credits include assistant engineering on Kesha’s album, High Road (2020), assistant engineering to Ainjel Emme at Block of Joy on the John Lennon Songwriting 2020 grand prize song, Alindahaw by Alfa Garcia, and on Weezer’s album, Van Weezer (2021).
Jasmine is the assistant to the company president, Tom Hilbe, at T.H.E. Company, getting to get up close and personal to vintage gear. Formerly, Jasmine was the head engineer at Beets & Produce, Inc., owned by Black-Eyed Peas producer, Printz Board.
Jasmine is a member of Women In Music LA, Soundgirls, and serves on the executive committee of the Los Angeles Chapter of the Audio Engineering Society. She became a member of the Hollywood Sapphire Group in November 2024.
When she’s not being a recording engineer, she participates in live sound gigs at various venues, connects with other musicians and audio engineers, and reading vintage audio equipment manuals. When not working, she enjoys reading fun facts, watching video essays about film, listening to music, finding movies and series she can cry at, doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and singing (only in her car). She also earned a black belt in mixed martial arts karate at one point.
